Skydiving Speaker Jumps Into Top Spot at NSA/Northern California

San Francisco, CA, September 12, 2001 – Jim McCormick, the only professional speaker who can arrive for his presentations by parachute, has been elected president of National Speakers’ Association/Northern California. With over 4,000 members worldwide, the National Speakers Association is the voice of the speaking profession within the $40 billion meetings industry. The Northern California chapter is the second largest in the association. As President of the chapter, McCormick speaks on behalf of the professional speaking community throughout Northern California.

“Company by company, our members are helping people cope with our recent national tragedy and the current economic slowdown. And we help our members do it by making them more effective professional communicators,” McCormick states. McCormick is a leading authority on risk taking and overcoming fear.

McCormick, an adventurer and leading authority on risk-taking (www.takerisks.com) was a part of a 246 person World Record skydiving formation and was the first person to jump into San Francisco’s Pacific Bell Park. One of only 400 professional exhibition skydivers in the United States, he has also skydived to the North Pole and participated in some of the highest altitude civilian skydives—from 31,000 feet.

McCormick served in Washington, DC as a member of Presidential administration where he was the first non-attorney in the history of the U.S. Department of Energy to be Special Assistant to the General Counsel. An MBA, he has also been COO of an international design firm and Partner in a real estate investment and development company.
